    Re: Exhaust clamps

    Gerald,

If the clamps you're talking about are the same guillotine ones used on C2s, then I think the answer is no one sells correct ones. At least I don't know anyone who sells C2 clamps that are not likely to get a deduct. If anyone knows of a source for correct C2 clamps, I'd like to know who sells them.

Summit Racing sells guillotine clamps made by Walker (Walker clamp # 35304, 2.5" dia.) for about $3 each but they will not have the correct stampings on them. I found 2.5" and 2.0" guillotine clamps at swap meets in years past.

        David,

Do those Walker clamps from Summit have 5/16-18 threads?

          Gary,

I do not know. Summit sells the guillotine clamps on the web but does not describe the thread size. I have a current Summit catalog but the guillotine clamps are not listed. The regular steel and polished stainless steel clamps in the catalog (page 70) are described as "a 3/8" thick U-bolt".

            David,

The 3/8" thread size is a common bug-a-boo with aftermarket clamps.

              Dave,

I checked with one vendor and he said the Walker clamp has 3/8-16 threads. So, not 100% correct for C2 years.

                Gary,

Another concern is that the original u-bolt nuts should be flanged - I'm not sure how the reproductions are configured.....

                  Kurt,

Obtaining the correct, flanged 5/16-18 nuts is simple. GM still sells them. I bought some about 4 months, GM # 1359887; they come in a pack of 10.
