Looking at a 3.36 rear end with housing casting number 3743838 and casting c-30743 and a date E/8. I never seen a date code with a slash. Could this actually be May 1st 58? Did 58 vettes come with a 3.36 gear?

Re: 58 positraction rear end date e/8
Brandon,
According to the NCRS Pocket Spec Guide, 1957 -1958 Corvettes were available with a 3.36 axle ratio with the Code AE and was standard with powerglide; however, that ratio is "suspect" as above for 1955- 1956, the AE code was for a 3.55 ratio.
Some years ago, I owned a 1956 with powerglide and a 3.55 ratio axle and the carrier was stamped "AE". Further, the 1959 - 1960 Corvettes are listed with a 3.55 ratio and code AE.
The 3.36 ratio axle does not show up until 1961 with a code of AC.
