How was trim positioned on '56-'62 cars at St. Louis

How were the hole positions for front and trunk emblems, FI emblems, side SS trim, and SS trim around interior placed on bodies? Were soft templates used? Hard jigs? Other methods? Anyone have pictures?

    Thanks! Steve

    Steve -

The only photos I have are of the raw bodies in the Body Shop, without the holes. However, hard apply fixtures with steel drill bushings at each hole location were used to drill emblem and molding attaching holes.

        Steve -

The larger drill fixtures were designed and built by Chevrolet Central Office Tooling, and many of the smaller portable drill fixtures were built locally at the plant.
