I lost judging points for not having the proper carpet screws. I saw what was supposed to be a an original vette that had them (The washers were painted red). My vette which is also original has no evidence of holes in the floor which would indicate to me that the screws were not always installed. Does anyone know for sure about these carpet screws

Re: 55 vette carpet screws
the screws are either philips or clutch head with a finishing washer
neither are painted.
Both the old JM and the new one call out specific locations.1954 Corvette #3803 - Top Flight 2012, Bloomington Gold 2012,

Re: 55 vette carpet screws
I've documented quite a few unrestored, low mileage 53-55s. All had screws on both sides of where the floor meets the tranny hump. Unpained Phillips with trim washers. Two on each side.
Note that the updated manual says, "Measurements (speaking of the distance between the screws) and locations are approximate." The reason it says this is because the installer eyeballed them in where needed. I measured a bunch of them and there is no consistent distance between them.
