    Grab Bar 58' - 61'

Holly cow... How do you install the grab bar.. Couple of questions: Judge Car trying to make it correct.

    1) The chrome end caps you have to slide over both ends and down enough to get bottom bolts installed, how do you get them over the ends and slide them down. I have tried sofa and water trying to make it slide but VERY hard. Suggestions

    2) On the grab bar from Al Knock the cover is sew all the way to the end of the bar, does mounting brackets attached the dash go on the bottom of the cover so it is exposed if you look at the bottom OR does it some how slide into the grab bar under the cover so it is hiddne. If any one has photos I welcome them or how to do this correctly for judging. Thanks !

Eric, there's a recent thread about this.....do a Advanced Search, enter my name......never mind, here it is.....

    pics in there too.

Yes the end caps have to slide inwards, then back. Try wrapping electrical or strong masking tape, sticky side up, veeeery tightly to compress the foam so the sharp edges of the end caps don't scratch it. The last few wraps of the tape can go sticky side down over the previous wraps.

No, don't try to split and get the vinyl slid over the end brackets. The bar is made to sit over the top surface of the brackets. There's a indentation in the bar that sits over them. Carefully trim out some of the vinyl where the screws will go through.

After the end caps are slid over your tape inwards, drop the bar on the brackets, then attach the 4 clutch head screws from underneath. Gently slide the end caps outward over the ends of the bar, and insert the screws, one under facing the sky, the other......very gently, into the dash insert area.

Patience and I sprayed a light coat of vegetable oil on the vinyl; wipes off easily.
