What happened to the build sheets on 63 to 66 corvettes?

I know how I was able to retain the build/broadcast sheet on my 62 Corvette. Starting in 63 did they not even make it to the dealer with the car?

    Bob,
Is that not the same information on the car as the shipper paper? I have shipper paper for my 67 that the original owner was given along with everything else. I don't think every new owner was offered the shipper sheet....No?

What the owner received, by chance if the dealer did not throw it away, was the REGULAR COMMERCIAL and TRUCK dealers copy. It was carbon number 5. It was not the build sheet as this document was created when the car was about 75 percent down the line. It has all the cars options, key number etc. It does not have any pricing. There are examples in the archives somewhere.

Was this car a St. Louis plant delivery? I ask because of the hand written "53" in the COPO box.

Duke, this car was delivered at Capitol Motors in Hartford, CT within a week of the build date. I spoke with the first owner to verify. I have owned this car since 1998. I have no idea what the COPO code of 53 represents. I've all but given up trying to figure it out.

Thanks. My dealer order copy has "39" written in the COPO box by what appears to be the same hand that wrote your "53". My SWC was built on March 19 and "...ST. LOUIS PLANT DELIVERY..." is typed on the order.

I, too have been trying to figure out what the hand written number in the COPO box means. It's probably some kind of informal plant designation like the body shop job number, but I've never figured it out, either.

The job number is 397. The sheet has 60=397 on it and 397 is all over the car as well as under the trim on the hardtop.

Wish I had the same document for my 63 coupe!

                Harry:

That is similar to what we found under the seat of the 62. However, it is titled "regular order passenger" on top and the bottom says dealer copy. Nothing is visible in the copo box. Mine did have the dealer information on it as well as all the options, key codes, engine code, build date, etc. Yes, the code on the build sheet was all over the car as well. We assumed it was in the package tray and blew under the seat to be found some 22 years later. Incredible there weren't a few more that survived or passed on with other paperwork to the original owner. When I bought the car from the original owner, he gave me all the paperwork but then said "i don't know if you want this but I found it under the seat". Naw, throw it away. Not!
