    C1 Rotisserie Pictures

Finished modifying an extra rotisserie for our C1 (59) restoration today. I originally had the body on a wooden body dolly but realized it would be somewhat difficult to clean the underside. And this is what we came up with. Needless to say, it works great and I've already started cleaning her underside. Just thought I would share some pictures.

Very Cool. The underside should be a piece of cake with this set up.

Wow. Jill, that's great tool. I am still on the wooden rack and I agree that it is a trick trying to get to the bottom.

I see that your '59 had the same nose job that someone gave my '62!

Yes, I know. I plan to repair it back to original. I've been lucky and have met some GREAT people on NCRS that have helped me find original glass (and parts) to restore my car back to original. Here's also a sample of what my frame/engine looks like now. Just a few more items to acquire before starting my engine and breaking in that cam...
By the way, that's me in one of the pictures - I bought some cat eye glasses to go with the car...

            Jill,
All you need is a seat and some gas and your ready to roll! I am a few steps behind you but hope to have the frame back on wheels this summer!

Re: C1 Rotisserie Pictures - More Project Photos

Was on vacation last week and got a chance to have one week's worth of uninterrupted time to work on the car. We took the body off of the rotisserie to dry fit the body and several other components to make sure they all fit well. We were primarily interested in dry fitting both inner fender wells due to having to make repairs to the existing pieces. Needless to say, everything seems to be fitting like a glove (I'm pretty happy about that). Once the inner fender wells are in place and secured, we'll get the front nose secured onto the car. Next, we'll do the same with the bottom half of the rear end (since someone decided to cut an inset license plate). Then we'll finish any lingering fiberglass repairs and shoot a coat of sandable filler primer. Then sand, sand, sand...

Here, we have attached the hood to the radiator core support on the frame to test fit. Notice in the background of the 3rd picture the A-frame that is already set for lifting the car off of the rotisserie in preparation for the dry fit. Jill

More pictures putting the body on the frame. Notice the inner fender wells - they're being dry fitted so we can get everything right before securing them to the body/engine compartment with the clawplast (pookie). Everything is fitting nicely. Jill

Here are the last of the pictures. I estimate that my project will be complete within the next 6-7 months...just in time to let the wind blow through my hair... Jill

Thanks Francis. My current engine is all ready to go but I'll be changing it out before I even crank it for the first time. It's a chevy block and my new corvette block (283) will be arriving next week which will give me plenty of time to get it machined to my current engine specs, assemble it, then get it mounted and installed on the frame before my body goes on permanently. I bought my 283 chevy block early in the game (it was one of the first items I bought) then kept going back and forth about whether or not to purchase a corvette block. Needless to say, I've been really excited about the new block arriving so my car will definitely be up to proper specs for the full restoration. It has a good matching date code as well so it'll be up to spec for sure. My next step is to get it over to the machine shop so they can do their machining magic. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project - it has been so much fun!! Thanks again for your kind words.
