71-72 LT1 Oil Fill Plug (LH) and Emblem (RH) 3946860

Researching the rubber oil fill plug in my illustration catalogue shows p/n 3980273 (group 1.758) but calls out 454 application. I see a different p/n advertised (boxed) showing a slightly different p/n 3982073. What is the correct p/n, and what are the proper logos on the underside, and are they dated? Also, after I have my valve covers refinished, I will need to replace the emblem for the RH valve cover. Are there any special precautions to be used when removing the old emblem and installing the new crossed flag emblem ie: proper glue/epoxy....etc. Finally are the breather grommets in the RH and LH covers dated, or unique logos for the p/n specified as original?

The rubber filler cap part number was GM #3980273. It was discontinued in March, 1986 and replaced by other caps which have slightly different configurations. GM #3982073 was NOT an oil filler cap. It was some sort of hood spring. I don't know what the proper logos on the underside are for original oil caps.

The GM #3946860 emblem has pressure sensitive adhesive pre-applied. All you have to do is to remove the backing and affix it to the appropriate spot on the valve cover. However, the area needs to be scrupulously clean prior to affixing the emblem.
