I want to start my engine in a bare chassis, and I do not want to remove the radiator support from the body because the body dolly requires its presence. I assume many of you have built some kind of temporary support to hold the radiator to the frame. Please post some pictures of your handiwork to give me ideas.

Photo below shows the typical pre-run setup I've always used - shows my tube-frame Grand Sport in 1994, but I've used the same setup on several Cobras and at least five Corvettes. No need for a radiator support - cardboard box works fine.

Re: Temporary radiator support
Thanks John. I hadn't considered that the hoses themselves can position the radiator and it just needs something to sit on. I take it that you leave the fan off and just cool the radiator with a home water hose while performing cam break-in.- Top

Re: Temporary radiator support
Pat,
I just replaced the core support in my 67 SB. The old one is solid, just had some rusting in the bottom. Your welcome to it if you thing you could use it. You could bolt it to the bare frame and perhaps clamp the rad to it. If you want to take a drive West

Re: Temporary radiator support
It's out of the photo, but I use a big box fan (and this particular application used an electric "puller" fan in place of a stock fan).- Top
