Hi Members. I am looking at buying a 1955 Corvette that is in great shape, It is a Pennant Blue car, VIN #164. I have read and heard different stories on when the Blue stopped being produced for the 1955 Corvettes.
The Judging Manual says Blue was INTRODUCED in March 1955 and DISCONTINUED 4/1/1955. Does that mean that almost all 50 or so Corvettes made in March 1955 were Blue, since there are approximately only 45 of them? I have found earlier cars in Pennant Blue also on the C1Registry, as early as car #30.
I have also heard from another person that only the first 100 Corvettes were actually available in Pennant Blue. The C1Registry shows the last registered Pennant Blue 1955 as #156. Does anyone know of a later 1955 Corvette painted Pennant Blue?
If GM discontinued the Pennant Blue on April 1, 1955, does that mean that there were Zero produced after that, or could there be a few that were still made within the 1 or 2 weeks after that date?
According the the NCRS Judging Manual, as well as the Black Book, the last 1955 Corvette built in March 1955 was VIN #150.
Thanks for your help,
Steve
