1955 Pennant Blue last VIN Approximately ?

Hi Members. I am looking at buying a 1955 Corvette that is in great shape, It is a Pennant Blue car, VIN #164. I have read and heard different stories on when the Blue stopped being produced for the 1955 Corvettes.

The Judging Manual says Blue was INTRODUCED in March 1955 and DISCONTINUED 4/1/1955. Does that mean that almost all 50 or so Corvettes made in March 1955 were Blue, since there are approximately only 45 of them? I have found earlier cars in Pennant Blue also on the C1Registry, as early as car #30.

I have also heard from another person that only the first 100 Corvettes were actually available in Pennant Blue. The C1Registry shows the last registered Pennant Blue 1955 as #156. Does anyone know of a later 1955 Corvette painted Pennant Blue?

If GM discontinued the Pennant Blue on April 1, 1955, does that mean that there were Zero produced after that, or could there be a few that were still made within the 1 or 2 weeks after that date?

According the the NCRS Judging Manual, as well as the Black Book, the last 1955 Corvette built in March 1955 was VIN #150.

    Thanks for your help,

    Steve

    Steve
Pennant Blue was also available in 1954
There were 300 blue cars built
As far as 1955 cars I am not sure - Roy Braatz or Brett Henderson or Steve Newsome may know.

Examine the car closely to see if it has been repainted. There are places where it should be easy to tell unless they did a perfect job of hiding the previous color. If no evidence of a color change I'd figure it is original. Look under the dash, in the trunk inner fender wells, under edges of the body, etc.

I don't think one can assume that 4/1/55 is the final date one was made. That could be the date after it was no longer offered as a color you could order. Orders before that date could still have been in the que.

it makes little sense to me that the ncrs does not make available items such as the vin#, color, engine hp and transmission of cars that have been judged. with these figures it would be found that pennant blue 1955 corvettes from the teens to nearly 180 have been judged. a pennant blue car close to 180 achieved a 98% top flight. from what I seen of 164, I would be very surprised if it was not originally a pennant blue car.
