    Preparing Shocks to be painted

I have received my AC Delco shocks for my 74. I would like to prepare them to be painted. What is the best way to do this? Is every part that is currently black to be painted the blueish gray? Is there other parts which also get painted?

    Thanks

When it comes to prepping for paint, I usually use a lint free rag and wipe down with isopropyl alcohol and then let them air for a minute and then spray my primer and paint. My original shocks are so devoid of paint that I would suggest the JG as a source.

      Hi Todd
What I have done in the past is to scuff the new shocks with a scuff pad to help the paint stick and then wipe the shocks down with something like prep-sol or pre kleeno. I believe the rubber grommets were on the original shocks when they were painted.
