    Off road muffler 1965 365HP

    New to this community.
    1965 327/365 coupe with A/C.
Reportedly was a Duntov car 20 years ago.
Driver's side muffler has a big hole (at first I thought my hearing was getting better).
Has off road N11 undercar exhaust, sounded great when I first got the car 2 years ago.
Remainder of exhaust system is good.

Where is the best source for replacement mufflers with the factory sound/appearance?

    Many thanks.

Paragon comes to mind...they certainly have a wide array of replacement mufflers.

There is no exhaust system on the market that duplicates the originals in all ways. The only way to achieve something close to factory configuration is to obtain a muffler and rear pipe (from the crossmember to the muffler) as an assembly. This is how all original GM systems were configured. You can obtain good muffler/pipe assemblies from Corvette Central and Gardner. In your case, you could also look for an NOS assembly. Expect to pay BIG $$$$$ if you find one.

I installed Walker replacement mufflers with 2 1/2 inlet to the mufflers over 22 years ago for my 68 327/350. Sounded good after installation and still love the sound, mufflers have a lifetime guarantee and have held up very well, no rust issues, for over 22 years.

For further insight I highly recommend you go to the Michigan Chapter web site and watch the N11 muffler seminar of 2/15/09. Scroll down, it is on the right.

I just ordered a set of N11's from Gardner for my 63. I have to weld the pipes at the muffler, but for 63's the other suppliers make an awful setup.

I'd suggest a call to Gardner.

I have Gardners on my 64, super fit, look great, easy to finish weld the muffler when all is adjusted. Go to the Gardner websight and punch in 64 Corvette, that's my baby!

Do those take the blackout paint as well as the originals?

Michael, I sprayed on some Krylon semi gloss 5 years ago, still there. They flow really well, don't get that hot. The sound is great, but quiet inside the car while driving.

That's a good recommendation, some are not that good.
