Holes in wheel well for power antenna on a '67?

If the power antenna was discontinued for 1967, why would a 67 still have two holes in the left rear wheel well normally used for the mounting of the power antenna?
The car in question is a Jan. 67 built coupe. If it was to use up 66 parts, wouldn't they have 'filled' the holes? Body panels in the area appear to be original glass. Thanks

My '67 coupe with a June '67 build date has the same two holes.

Just a guess here, but knowing that this would be the last year of production of the C2 maybe retooling for such a minor thing didn't make good fiscal sense...bean counters and all. Possibly those holes were there for all '65-'67 models...kinda makes sense.

I agree with that idea Lief, however when holes in inner panels were not used they were plugged. An example would be when expansion tanks are not used on BB the holes were filled.

Yep, But they didnt fill those. I guess they were not concerned with the rear of the car, just the engine compartment.

I asked this question before and it seems only St. Louis body's have the hole where as AO Smith does not

The 67 SB hood is a carry over from 66 and has the holes for mounting the Corvette emblem on the 66. No plugs in those holes.

AOS used the same parts as St.Louis, and AOS had the holes too.

67 AOS about 2400 serial number.

                        Keith -

My June '67 AOS car has the holes - have never seen a '67 without the holes.
