Re: mid year tank sender leak

#1, This is my first post and I think my member number is the highest in the forum .
#2, I realize this is an older post, but I was able to resolve my issue by tightening the nut also listed in archive C-2 Gas Sender Seal.
#3, Thank you all for making this forum so helpful. I was able to find knowledgeable resources (people) to resolve my issue myself. As I research items with my new (to me) 64 Daytona Blue car, it usually starts with a visit is to the NCRS member forum.

Hi Brad, WELCOME !! Congrats on your first post. Hopefully there will be many more.

Please post some photos of your '64 when you can. Great that you even posted a photo in your first post too.

Glad you found and corrected your problem. Yes there are special rubber washers in each stud which, over time can shrink a bit. A careful "tighten-up" of the nut can reseal. Just keep a close eye on it for a while. Sometimes it is necessary to take it apart and replace the seals as they dry out more. Adding a touch of fuel resistant sealant can help also.

Here are a few photos of a recent restoration of a original from a '67. You can see the rubber seals and insulators.

Just be careful when tightening any more as the stud can turn if not held on the inside. You can see them above. If it does it could put a strain on the copper strap or wire. You could hold the tip of the stud with a double nut arrangement or a needle nose to be sure it doesn't move.

Here are a few pics I took from a recent local AZ NCRS event. I learned a lot.

          Brad, Stunning !!

I love the white interior, and I really like the look of the C2 Hardtop cars. Very nice.
