I have a 1966 427-425 car and I am wondering that if I want to remove the tach and speedometer inner cables , do I disconnect under the dash, or at the distributor and transmission end to pull them out? Also, should I use a graphite based grease?

Re: C 2 Speedo/Tach Cable Lubrication....
Larry, take the entire cable(s) out of the car. Remove the inner cable.
I usually pour denatured alcohol through the outer cable and clean the inner cable with it also. I also push a lint free cloth through the outer cable to remove built up grease and junk. When I'm comfortable it's clean I lubricate the cable, inner and outer, with Kable-Ease. It's made by AGS out of Muskegon, MI. Don't use too much lubricant as you do not want it to work it's way to the tach or speedo.
