    John,

It looks like an original 3739830 dipstick to me. I have seen original 3739830 dipsticks embossed and debossed with the "M" as well as the letter "W".

I revised my 58-63 research originally done in 1991 & 1992 essentially because of Gary's drawing of the 3722959 dipstick. I firmly believe that the 3 dipsticks shown in my photos on 03/27/2014 @ 8:56 PM are GM # 3722959 as well as a similar dipstick stamped "E" that I sold years ago.

        Rich and Dave,

IIRC even the service replacement '57 dipsticks bought over the counter in the late 70;s and early 80's were two piece, were stamped with the M/W logo, but Add/Full was regularly stamping, not debossed.

My friend Dave Ewan still has a couple of these NOS OTC '57 dipsticks.

To all, thanks for this very informative "Oil Level Gauge" lesson. I've learned very much.

            Re: Dipstick Identity

It is now clear to me that the dipstick in my 1960 is a 56-57 dipstick. It matches the measurements and markings of a 3722959. I sure would like to trade for a 3739830.
