63 rear brake shoe part number?

I've looked and can't find it.

Anyone have the part number for 63 rear brake shoes?

    Thanks.

The last available part number was GM #3849026. However, it was discontinued without supercession in April, 1984. GM #1154134 MIGHT work but it was discontinued without supercession in November, 1988.

By the way, I believe the 3849026 may also be used for C1, front and rear.

GM #1154123 was cataloged by GM as the last available SERVICE front shoes for 1964 Corvettes. However, I can't see any reason that they would not also work for a 1963 since, as far as I know, the brake drums and shoes are identical. These shoes are slightly oversize to compensate for machined brake drums and are non-metallic.

Joe, Thanks for the quick response. the oversize shoes will be exactly what I need as the drums have been machined. Ed

If needed for function only (meaning no GM part numbers), you can go to your local NAPA store and pick up an axle set of shoes for $30 or so.

Yes, aftermarket, no problem. In fact, one can even have GM part numbers. However, these are not OEM GM part numbers, they're aftermarket GM/Delco part numbers. So, they are not "direct descendents" of the original GM OEM pieces (but they're still GM, if that matters). They're as follows

                GM #19261988, aka Delco 17227B----front

                GM #18029593, aka Delco 17228R----rear

                -----------------OR--------------------------

                GM #19287981, aka Delco 14228B----rear

A little off topic but I remember getting a set of rear brake shoes for my '63 driver from one of the biggest and well known aftermarket suppliers many years ago. What surprised me was that the invoice was stamped "Made in U.S.A." but the steel frame of the shoes were stamped "AAMCO' and "Made in Canada". I took some pictures back then, which of course I can't find now, but the shoes are still on the car. Next time I pull the drums I will take a digital picture just for fun.
