Re: Front Calipers on C3 -- how much drag is normal?
UPDATE: Frank at Precision Engineering quickly send out another set of rebuilt front calipers (shipped last Monday, arrived two days later), and these calipers have a little bit of drag, but nowhere near the amount of drag that the first set of rebuilt calipers produced. I can spin the wheel and it rotates about two times then stops. The initial set of calipers wouldn't let the wheel rotate without a lot of force being applied.
Maybe both initial calipers were bad, but that seems unlikely, so I'm stumped. However, I'm thrilled that the second set of rebuilts work very well. The only gremlin was the bleed screw on the LF caliper -- it leaked a tiny amount of fluid. I've backed off the screw and reseated several times, and it seems to be staying dry now.
I appreciate all the input you gentlemen provided. I learned a couple new tricks to diagnose problems in the future, so life is good!
