Did all A.I.R. 67 L36, L68, L71 BB use a spacer under the thermostat housing?

The (JG) guide says all A.I.R. BB's used the aluminum spacer but we're heard conflicting information that L68 400hp did not use the spacer. Any 'expert' input invited Thanks

According to GM, all 1967 Corvette big blocks with K-19 used the spacer. Keep in mind that this is just the sort of part that could go "by the wayside" over the years. Someone replacing a thermostat or dealing with coolant leaks might just decide the spacer was "not really necessary" and eliminate it. So, if one finds a car without the spacer, it would be pretty hard to say that it came that way.

So, if one finds a car without the spacer, it would be pretty hard to say that it came that way.
