I have a 1966 427/425, TI and am looking for the correct distributor cap. I have an old Corvette (1953-1969) [arts and accessory catalog which says the correct part no is 800061. I have found several NOS on ebay and they all have a patent no. of 2769047. I was told the cap should say patent pending. What is correct? The car is under going restoration, shooting for top flight. Thanks Mike

The correct Delco part number is D-308. D-308's have different moulded in embossments. The earliest D-308's have PATENT PENDING on the and that is what you need. In 1969 an R was added to the PATENT PENDING.- Top

Re: correct distributor cap
All the guys are right, and in addition it should NOT have a part number on the top, have the "bridge" at the lower lip where the clip is, longer/taller spark plug connectors as the fuelies had the shorter ones. ARA- Top

Re: correct distributor cap
My 1966 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1965) lists GM # 1942654 in Gr. 2.367 as the distributor cap for 66 ALL, CORVETTE (427)(exc. Sp. H/Per., A.I.R., T.H.) as well as 66 CORVETTE (327)(exc. P.G.).
My 1967 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Apr. 1967 & July 1967) list the same part number for 63-67 ALL, CORVETTE (8 cyl.).
GM # 1942654 was replaced by GM # 800061 in Oct. 1969.

Re: correct distributor cap
Distributor cap 1932018 appears in my 1957 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Mar. 1957) for 57 ALL 8cyl. (exc. dual 4BC) but not in my 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog. GM # 1932018 also does not appear in my 1961 Chev. Truck Parts Catalog (Feb. 1961).
GM # 1932018 was replaced with GM # 1942654 according to GM "Part Number Replacements and Supersessions". I do not have a date but it must be sometime between Mar. 1957 and Feb. 1961.

Re: correct distributor cap
Mike:
I interpolate the phrase "66 ALL, CORVETTE (427)(exc. Sp. H/Per., A.I.R., T.H.)" in my 1966 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (Oct. 1965) to mean the following:
All 1966 Chevrolet and Corvette models with the 427 engine except those models with the 427 engine that also have Special High Performance (L72 option), Air Injection Reactor (Option K19) and the Turbo Hydramatic transmission. The abbreviations are listed in my 1966 Chevrolet Parts Illustration and Special Information Catalog (Oct. 1965).
However, as I stated previously my 1967 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Apr. 1967 & July 1967) list the same part number for "63-67 ALL, CORVETTE (8 cyl.)". This obviously would include all 1963-1967 Chevrolet & Corvette models with an 8 cyl. engine (283, 327, and 427) no matter what the other options may be.

Re: correct distributor cap
My 1966 Corvair-Chevy II-Chevelle Parts Catalog (Jan. 1966) lists cap # 1942654 in Gr. 2.367 for the 66 CHEVELLE (exc. H/Per., P.G.) and the 66 CHEVELLE w/H/Per. (396)(exc. A.I.R., P.G.) as well as 64-66 ALL (8 cyl.)(exc. 396) which does not make much sense (with the 396 and except the 396??????).
My 1967 C-C-C Parts Catalog (Oct. 1966) lists cap # 1942654 for 64-67 ALL (8 cyl.).
