    1954 Dash Knob Refinishing

Need some advice on repainting dash knobs. I have completed some minor repairs to the off white plastic dash knobs on my 1954 - filled in some small cracks and chips and sanded them down (looks great so far!). Now I would like to paint them but not totally certain the type of paint to use. I was able to get a very good color match mix with enamal model paint that I was going to airbrush them with but thought I would check to see if anyone has a better suggestion.
Any help or advice is appreciated especially if someone has a color recommendation that is not a custom mix
    thanks,
    John Lanning

I second Chris's comment. Fred has done a set for me also. They are very nice.

Nothing wrong with trying to paint them the correct color. There is more than one way to restore them and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself rather than farming it out.

Air brush sounds like the way to go. The tricky part looks to be the masking.

Back in the day when John Rhoner was still alive and selling C1 parts his young daughter, Mary Jo, got her start in the Corvette parts business by painting dash knobs for him.

Thanks for the feedback....indeed it is fantastic we have folks like Fred Terry who is able to craft us new "hard to find" parts when we need them as an option to repainting old ones, or even as was mentioned using acatone sparingly to bring back some of them as well. Will give the refinish a try, I really enjoy doing as much of the work on my own as I can.
            Thanks to all!!!
