    Vintage NCRS postcards

These were designed to use to recruit new members. They go back to the 70's as I recall. Now your NCRS literature collection isn't complete!
Just thought some of you would like to see these.

Those are probably from the 80s since they mention 53 through 67. Neat items, though. I made something similar to place on windshields and our local NCCC club used them to try and get members.

Maybe the NCRS Chapters who attend a local car show as part of the Top Flght Chapter program could take this page from their fore-fathers.
Thanks to Mike I now have these in my NCRS history collection.

        Hi Mike,
I notice that there are different dues amounts on the 2 cards.
The dues change from $15 to $18 per year is noted in the Spring 1980 edition of the RESTORER.
I'd guess that would help establish the era of the cards.
In an earlier edition of the RESTORER (Fall 1977) there is mention of 2 applications (cards?) being enclosed in the magazine that current members might give to prospective new members. Although my early editions of the RESTORER have the loose 'classified' sheets, the 'applications' are missing from the edition they're mentioned in.
        Regards,
        Alan

The early judging manuals came with tan post cards (like those included in the Chevrolet parts books) asking for corrections to the manuals to be submitted to the NCRS office in Lincoln. I don't have one handy to scan, but I would bet it won't be long before a scan of one turns up.

            Alan,
If you read my article on Restorer Inserts in Volume 26 Number 2 you will see reference to a yellow membership application in Restorer 1 #1 and membership applications in2 #3 and 4 #2. Interesting history for the NCRS history buff.

Didn't want to let you down. Here those are. Does that mean I need a copy of all the old JG's now?img249.jpgimg250.jpgimg251.jpg

Also there were some advertisement blow in's. IIRC they were red or off red paper.

Alan, rather than try to explain things my article spells all the inserts out.

I don't think so Mike. I gave all of mine (at least all I could find at the time) to Bill Sangray for the NCRS Archives a while back. Beyond the curiosity factor of the old judging sheets with the technical information right on them I can't see much value to the judging materials -- but then I have been wrong many times before.

                        Hi Mike,

You gave me one of those cards. You bought my 62 that was missing the front clip.
This would have been in San Diego. And yes I still have the 59.
