Engine Wiring Harness - DFW area

I many be having to replace the engine wiring harness in my '67 Coupe. Any recommendations for who to perform this task in the DFW area? I will purchase the harness from either Lectric Limited or M&H.

    Thanks in advance.

I have had good luck with the Lectric Limited harness. It is a simple swap and you should be able to do your self. lay the harness out on the floor and visualise where it is going. the wire is all nice and soft and drops right into place. just be sure you disconnect battery first.

Just did my 67, got mine from Lectric Limited, fit perfect. Easy project, you should try and DIY.

Thanks to all for the info...Bill and Ralph, are you experienced mechanics or simply enjoy doing it yourself. Don't mind getting my hands dirty but, also, don't want to get in over my head. Need a lift for the wires going to the starter and solenoid?

Leif, if you have a couple of jack stands to put car on you can easily removed the wiring on starter solenoid, the rest is done from up top. Take some masking tape and mark each wire as you remove.once you have everything unpluged remove harness and set next to new harness and start marking the new harness. if you need help there are plenty of guys here to help.

Like ed says a lift is nice but not needed. The wiring falls right into place. Just enjoy doing it myself

                    Lief,
This is a very easy project. I'm not a mechanic, yes enjoy doing things myself.
Just be sure to disconnect the battery before you do anything.
Make note of how the starter and horn relay are connected. Hardest part will be headlight area. You might need to work using a mirror. Be sure to secure the hood to prevent in from closing. Always a good idea to take pictures before you start for reference.

Thanks to all for great advice and personal experience. Jerry, I know Carr Campbell personally (we worked together back in the early 90's). He was really the only person I know of locally but was wondering if anybody else had experience with someone else. After reading all the comments and with the nice cool spring weather at hand, I may just give this a shot myself. Carr's shop is only about 3 miles from my house should I have an issue.thanks, again, to all.

While the nice cool weather is more comfortable for you the wiring harness will go in more easily if it is warm. Some parts of the wiring harness (I know the IP harness for sure, although that is not what you are up to) were warmed under heat lamps before installation at St Louis during the winter months. Hearing the conditions there I would expect there was no need for supplemental warming during the summer months.

Terry,I guess "cool weather" is a relative term. It's going to be 75 degrees tomorrow and Wednesday and if I leave the harness in the sun for a bit it should be rather pliable. But, again, "cool" here in Texas is 75 degrees vs the 100 plus we deal with July thru and into September (with 50-60% humidity).

Outside sun is good. I thought about suggesting that, but I was too lazy to look up where you lived. In my neck of the woods outside sun is still a month or two away unless there is an extraordinary event. No need to compare weather.
