    63 cigarette lighter (puzzled)

Today I connected up the dash and one thing I could not figure out. How to connect the light bulb holder to the cigarette lighter housing. Here the lighter I currently have fitted:

Could someone confirm the parts I have are correct for a 63 car and may be a photo on how to fit the light bulb holder to the housing?

thanks for your help (as always)!
    Rob.

on a 63 vet cig lighter , there is a cut-out on the portion that threads into the lighter housing. yours doesn't show this cut-out. also, i believe the part that the lighter itself inserts into, is not a 63 as yours appears to have but 2 tabs to secure the lighter till it heats up and releases the lighter.there are 3 tabs on a 63 . can't tell if your lighter is a casco 63 as thats what it should be for 1963 corvettes. mike

Rob, The retainer housing with spade for the groundwire should have a couple of slots and window cut into it so the light socket can attach to the housing and the window will let the light emit in housing.

John - The configuration of the Corvette lighter assemblies changed from 1962 production to 1963 production. The 62 lighter element part of the 62 lighter assembly is 1" long & stamped "CASCO 12V", while the 63 lighter element is 7/8" long & stamped "63 CASCO 12V". The other components are also different. Rob, make sure all your parts are a set. If you miss match elements and sockets, you can fry your wiring when you plug it in! Bench test it out of the car to ensure it goes in and 'pops' out. You can adjust the retainer tongs in the housing to fine tune it. Be careful. Also, obtain a fuse for the wire, always a safe idea.
