    1962 pulley fan clutch assembly

Do these parts look original to a 62 340 hp engine? The pulley is a 4816 and the aim shows that part number. Can't find part numbers on fan or clutch?image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

    Dino,

The fan blade and pulley appear correct. Some fan blades are longer so only a measurement would confirm; however the configuration is correct. The fan clutch is very similar to mine but the center portion outside of the spring is generally flat on all the 62 clutches I am familiar with. I can send a photo later if no one else jumps in first.

      Dino,

Refer to the June 27, 2013 thread "1962 fan clutch and fan blade". There is one clutch pictured there like yours. Mine is like to one at end of thread on car #29.

        Dino,

The fan has the correct domed rivets and should measure 8 9/16" from the center hole to the tip of each blade (17 1/8" dia.) for the 62 Corvette. The Chev. passenger cars with AC used a similar fan but the diameter was 18" or 9" from center hole to blade tip.

My early 62 #29 looks like this. Hard to take a good picture.

John picture is of an early 62 (60 & 61) clutch. Sometime before mid year the little spring in the center disappeared. Some say that the OP picture is of a late 62 clutch. Many said it never appeared in 62. I have 2 mid to late 62s with very original engine compartments that both have the lumpy face of the OP picture. There is another thread about this about a year ago.

                Robert,

I don't understand. Are you saying that between the 1961/62 early clutch with the thermo spring totally exposed on the center face, and the later 1962 clutch with the thermo spring recessed in the face segmented "doughnut", that there was a clutch that had NO thermo spring at all? Explain please.
