Reading the ST 12, do I have this right? take the steering wheel and turn signal hub off/wiring and clamps at dash and firewall, then undo the drag link from Pitman arm and unbolt the steering box from the frame and pull the mast out through the firewall from the engine side? I thought the mast would disconnect from steering box? now that design has to transfer some road vibration...LOL

Re: 1962 Steering Mast removal
As I remember that is correct, but as you are reading it I PERSONNALY had an aggrevating time at the very end just pulling it out (like the ST12 says) without the exhaust and or inner fenderwell being in the way ! But yes thats how it worked for myself. (I pulled the exhaust manifold / but I'm not the brightest bulb either)- Top
