Trying to document what was painted, masked etc. here is a shot of the convertible deck male catch, it was yellow dichromate and was on the deck when it was sprayed. It has body color on the bracket with an ill fitting mask. You can see poor coverage under it image.jpg

Re: 1962 paint what was assembled in the paint booth
Steven, The car was painted a red/purple metal flake over what I believe to be original Roman Red over a gray factory primer/sealer......What confuses me is that there are areas that have been sprayed over.......like the trunk, the car has a black interior, red sidewalls so is the trunk compartment painted black or is it painted red? the underside of the trunk lid is factory red.... Is the folding top area painted red as well as underneath the decklid red? I see signs of black primer or was the underside black? The hood should have black underneath, yet it is all red right now over black....the engine compartment shows blackout, The center console radio heater area is gloss black, and the glove box center section is red? The trunk is what confuses me the most, what should it look like when a car is roman red with black interior?Dino Lanno- Top

Re: 1962 paint what was assembled in the paint booth
For the sake of someone in the future using this post to determine how to do their 62 correctly, Dino's pictures are NOT typical factory production! Trunk and gas tank area were body color on 61-62. Catch shown with paint on it was NOT on the car when paint was applied at factory, etc.- Top
