Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe with 396 engine
Dan -- that's it; I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. The file was under the 293 kb limit but it exceeded the 800 (w) by 600 (h) dimension pixel limit.
I'm sure Bill W's got your no-radio coupe, as well as Charlie Steuart's (RIP) L30 coupe 23512. Two other late ones are L30 S7752 #23556, and (someone has ) L30 S7755 # 23564. Also, # 21841 raced at '67 Indy Nationals.- Top

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe with 396 engine
Bill, not sure if you have my old L78 coupe. VIN 23384, L30 build date, very late car. Blue/Blue, sold new at Baher Chevrolet in Los Angeles, where Dick Gulstrand was a salesman at the time. Side pipes, knock offs, Gold Lines, L88 cam, over the counter M22. Had to wear ear plugs....what an awesome car.
I am toying with the idea of putting a M22 tranny in my 66 L72 car. Was the need to wear ear plugs due to transmission noise or engine noise, or both? I'm glad you were still able to tear up, even with ear plugs in!

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe with 396 engine
Bill I sold the car to a fellow in Florida about 10 years ago. He sold it a few years later. I have since obtained some documentation from a previous owner that should be with the car. I searched the Florida RMV by VIN and discovered the owner was a bank in the Orlando area. So if anyone on the Orlando area knows of a Blue/Blue 396 coupe, I have some info for them.1969 Riverside Gold Coupe, L71, 14,000 miles. Top Flight, 2 Star Bowtie.- Top

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe with 396 engine
Joe, the ear plugs were for the exhaust roar. I could still hear the gear whine through the ear plugs, especially in 1st and 2nd gear. It was awesome. I had the shifter on the short throw adjustment too for the complete effect.1969 Riverside Gold Coupe, L71, 14,000 miles. Top Flight, 2 Star Bowtie.- Top

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe with 396 engine
Bill, Chris I show 23384 in Bradford, Mass in 2/2012. Bill back in the day I tried L88 cam with 4.11 and as Chris says it has nothing on bottom, I ran it for about a month and went back to stock cam - kept L88 springs, pushrods in the car still. If you intend to drive on the street and in traffic I would not suggest L88 cam.- Top

Re: 1965 Corvette Coupe with 396 engine
Responding to the original post, while no exact numbers exist, would it be safe to ballpark that the same ratio of coupes and convertibles would apply to SB as to BB cars? As a result, of the '65 reported 8,186 coupes and 15,378 convertibles, a similar ratio of open and closed cars are among the 2,157 396s. That would leave us with approx. 1,000 BB coupes. Or is there some anecdotal knowledge around that tells us BB owners (early adopters, in the case of the first year '65 BB) preferrred open over closed cars or vice versa?- Top
