Page, I researched that listing number and called Ebay, but it's purged from their system. Can you provide me any more information on that listing and/or the seller or buyer? The owner might be interested if his engine is floating around. Thanks. JCH

The seller described it as having flaired fenders and a 1967 BB hood. Had a photo of the trim tag. It was C04, style 66 437, body A-0574, trim Std and paint 974. That's all the info I have on it.

Sounds like a bit of a mess. No info on buyer or seller, no EBay names? Do you keep track of such offerings? JCH

Seller's name on '09 Ebay listing is still in use but only very occasional activity in his feedback. The '66 Corvette transaction has no buyer feedback but his/seller feedback for that deal references the buyer was in Australia. Have sent seller an email for information but does not look promising given location if it remained there. Depending on if and how seller responds, I may list the engine on Ebay, also NCRS classifieds, if Australia/current owner of the car surfaces.

                Hi Jim,
Another option is to use the engine as you originally planned and list it in the orphan parts list on this forum. There are over 300 vin related parts listed and we had one original small block engine reunited last week after being separated in the early 1980's.

I think the orphan parts list is a fabulous idea. I'm surprised there aren't more posts. There's got to be more orphan parts laying around out there. Just sayin'

Dick, Ok, you're referring to my pix. I've read the manuals and looked at many pads on this website and descriptions of the tractor trailer size GM broaching machine that chiseled the blocks, but am still fuzzy on what you're referring to. Can you be more specific? GM left longitudinal chisel marks (i.e., broaching) that others have calibrated to a specific number per inch (something like 1100?). How do the longitudinal score marks on this pad differ - too broad, too narrow, too deep, wrong impression, etc? Apologies for my asking this but the posts on this subject in the archives are many but not particularly informative. They often devolve to "take a look at enough pads and you'll know." But what I am looking for specifically? Thanks. JCH

                        Re: Engine Pad

It's always somewhat unsatisfying when one of these real or restamp discussions tails off w/o any conclusion. I asked Al Grenning to evaluate this engine pad and he indicated he believes it is an original stamp. Numbers, fonts, style, impression, all look good to him. Al thought the broaching had been enhanced a bit (Dick Whittington had picked up on this independently) but still, in his opinion, had evidence of factory broaching and was ok. As for the cleanliness of the pad in general, he said he has seen a wide spectrum of conditions in original stamps ranging from pristine to severely degraded.
