I agree with you 100% that everyone should have all the documents you listed and use them. I know I have in past responses told some to go the TIM&JG to find the answer, so I am as equally guilty of that as anyone. It is just from my own past experience with this same subject I know you won't get a clear answer from these sources. You will probably walk away more dazes and confused than you were before you read them.

Does anyone have experience installing the 1969 "auxiliary heat shielding" Terry talks about in post #6?

Would fit fit other C3 model years? Any comments about how effectively it reduces cabin heat?

I saw a '69 in Frisco with it installed. It looked well designed and covered a lot of surface that's otherwise bare fiberglass. I'm thinking about installing it in my '70.

I have no personal experience with this, but I have seen several restored cars with it. I assume they were so equipped originally, but since those kinds of determinations are beyond NCRS judging standards, who knows.

I very much doubt these additions would be effective in the lo9ng run. They might reduce cabin temperature for the first hour ore so of driving, but I very much doubt anything will help after that time.

Even my C6 center console gets hot on the road, and I have Dymat type insulation added. The AC keeps the passengers comfortable, but don't rest your leg against the center console.

The combination of the proximity of the exhaust and the fiberglass/SMC underbody just allows major heat transfer for either the C3 or the C6, and I expect anything in between. I believe it is the nature of the beast, and one has to live with it.

Thanks Terry. What you say makes sense.

Other than C3s, I've only owned an '87 convertible and '90 ZR-1. I took each on road trips but never noticed any significant heat from the floor or console. Maybe C4s were better insulated than the C6?

I took lots of road trips in both the 1970 and the 2008. No AC in the LT1 makes it downright brutal in the summer. The 2008 is fine, even better with the Dymat, but I still can't rest my right leg against the center console for any length of time. Anything in the center console storage compartment gets downright hot, even with the Dymat.
