    1962 generator factory installation error

I've now documented 3 very original low-horsepower 62's (250 AND 300 HP) in the 2900-3000 serial number range that came from the factory with high-horse generators (1102268). One of those still has factory-installed fan belt, hoses, clamps, etc. I would love to correspond with anyone who would have/know a VERY original car in that serial number range (2850-3050) to see over how long a period this might have taken place. I haven't been able to find a 250 or 300hp car in that vintage that was verifiably original with a correct 1102174. Unmolested cars are TOUGH to find!!
    Also, help me speculate:
These would have been built right around Thanksgiving, (November 23, 1961). Probably the Friday before and the Monday before. What would have been the cause? Vacation replacement on the assembly line? Supply issue from Anderson, IN Delco plant? Something else?
Okay, so I've been doing this for too long, and have too much time--humor me, okay?
    Thanks

Mike, my original #00029 has the 2174 generator. It is a 250 hp car.

        Thanks, John.
I have 400+ correctly installed instances. I'm looking for a specific VIN range anomaly. By the way, the dates are different on the 2268 generators incorrectly installed on the 2900-range cars. They do correctly predate the build in a correct range.

Mike: One has to remember that back then the car companies didn't have computers to tell them they were running low on inventory. Human error came into play a lot. The assembly line didn't shut down if they were out of the correct part, as long as they had one that fit, it was slapped on and if it needed replaced later it was done at the dealer. I worked as a kid after school at a Chevy store that my dad worked at and saw lots of things that were not normal. We had a Caprice one time ordered with a 325hp and came thru with a 360hp. Guy had a heck of a time getting warranty work done as engine numbers didn't match car, the car originally belonged to my mom. Another human error was a stock boy putting the wrong part in the wrong bin, again human error, not every assembly line worker checked to see if the part they were putting on was the correct number, heck if it was a Friday afternoon or Monday morning car you were lucky if the part got put on at all. lol

            Terry,
I appreciate the input. I worked summers in Dana's differential plant in Ft. Wayne. I understand the issues. I've even written about them in several articles. I'd just love to know exactly what happened, and probably never will.
