Dick, have you or anyone heard what their plans are for the Skydome area that is on top of the sinkhole? I can't imagine, as a geologist, how they think they could do anything except move it completely away from the effected area and abandon the Skydome area completely. I doubt there is enough concrete or other filler available in the nation to fill it up.

            This is a quote:

The long-term plan is to refill the hole and repair the existing building on top of it, but there is no exact timeframe for the completion of the process.

I read that once they extract the other five cars they will do more drilling. Once they establish the extent of the cavity, their plan is to pump the area full of grout.

Wonder how many thousand yards of grout that will take?

Guess I will look into the grout business in BG then. There was a TV interview here locally of a man they said was one of the founders and first chief of the NCM, I didn't get his name, but he lives in Hobbs, NM now. He claims before they built the museum, they did close-spaced, deep borings all around the site and found nothing but solid ground and rock, as they knew it was in sinkhole country. That is what has me wondering about how big the hole really is.

Ray was very involved with getting the NCM off the ground. Heck of a nice guy.

Ray and I and the rest of the five recognized plotters and/or spouses (there were many more, but they chose to draw the line someplace) will be there for Labor Day this year -- the 20th Anniversary of the opening of the Museum. I have plans to visit before August to see the recovered cars.

They plugged sinkholes in Florida back in the early 80's. They plugged one across the street from a friend of mine. A new home was built on that lot a few years later. No movement that I know of. That was in Winter Haven, FL. The rest they turn into fishing lakes. Last count there were 39 lakes within the city limits.
