2008 z-06 vin

Hi Guys,

I have a 2008 Z-06 and am wondering where on the block is the VIN stamped? Short of dismantling the car I would like to take a pic of it and just put it in my file. Terry Mc I see that you own one of these as well and maybe you can guide me to the location. Is the VIN also stamped on the transmission as well and at what location? Fun car to own and drive and also the best gas mileage car I have ever owned. LOL. Thanks for any help.

VIN stamp (and that is really the wrong word since it is applied by a dot matrix machine) is at the rear of the cylinder case on the driver's side. I saw mine when they applied it and I have not been able to see it since, but the C4 judges know how to find them. One has to look in just the right place and move some wires, hoses and/or lines aside to see it. It faces the top of the car, and at best one can see only part of it at a time. I think it would be easier with a bore scope and now days those have digital attachments that plug into a computer and one can save the image to the computer. I think the price of those "tools" is down to a couple of hundred dollars at this point, but borrowing/renting one might be the better option if you are bound to find it. One of these times I drive to a Regional I will have to get the C4 judges to show me where to look, but I haven't been driven to do that yet.

I can not answer your question about the transmission. I just didn't notice that.

Yes, I too love my Z06. It had to grow on me, but so did the 1970.

From my 2006 CSM....I've never seen it on my 2007 base coupe, from up top or from underneath with mirrors and moving stuff around.

Thanks for the reply. So now I know where it is located. When I get some free time I might dig around and see if I can get a pic of it or a least a partial pic from the way you describe the location. Only problem now is finding the free time. Thanks again guys.

If you come anyplace close to succeeding I would appreciate knowing the technique. I am not hot on the trail of a photo, but it would be neat. Meantime if I get any help from the C4 judges I will let you know.
