    Wheel weights without grams

I am looking for correct wheel weights, i.e., no grams. I seem to remember advertisements in the Driveline, but didn't see an ad in this latest issue. Does anyone have contact information on where to get them?
    Thanks, Wayne

Check on Ebay......you can "tap" down the gram fonts with a small hammer, lead is soft, leaving only the OZ font.....Or you can go down to your local tire repair and get some used Micro weights.....Still may be some points off due to original configuration wings on weights......Put the best one's on your spare......

I remember a Restorer article of a few years ago in which Gary Beaupre identified seven (I think) different brands of wheel weights that were used on Corvettes. Don't be fixated on the MICRO brand. There were many others. As John inckley pointed out:Chevrolet was using wheel weights by the many millions per day. One source could not have even come close to supplying all of them.

Wayne, send me a PM. I think I have several that I would part with.

            Paul,

The Paragon wheel weights are modern versions that differ in two ways from 1960s-era weights. First, the new version has the value in grams on one end, which isn't correct. The ounce value should appear on both ends. So, the idea of peening down the gram value won't work, since that will just leave a mushed surface with no ounce value. Also, original Micro weights had the "bird wing" design, which the modern ones don't have. In my opinion, finding period-correct used weights is better than buying incorrect new weights. NOS Micro weights show up on e-bay fairly often. For C2 cars, just don't get ones that were x.25 or x.75 ounces, since they weren't used on the production line. x.25 and x.75 weights were available in service, but that won't pass muster with knowledgeable judges.

              Terry,

I don't have my article handy to check, but I seem to recall there were 5 vendors.

To add to Gary's comment about C2 wheel weights. The x.25 and x.75 were not used on 61-62 either.
