    76 Rear License Plate Bracket

My rear bumper cover was recently replaced . I never thought to look how the bracket was attached to the original '76 bumper cover. When I picked up my car the license plate was on but then realized it was just screwed into the new cover with no original bracket behind it. Fortunately the original bracket was found but what screws are used to attach it to the license plate area?? Ask the guy who did the work?? He was fired . That is why I'm asking for your help. In the 1968 - 82 Paragon catalog, page 114, it shows what looks like a rivet
(no number) going thru the license bracket with lines for 3 more. Am I seeing things ? Take a look for me under your '75 - '79 Vette . THANKS BIG TIME

The bracket was attached with aluminum pop rivets, not screws. The rivet, GM #3942604, was 7/64" diameter and used with 1/8" hole size. This rivet was discontinued without supercession in December, 1981 but I think you should be able to find a similar rivet pretty easily.

      Thanks Joe,
So the pop rivets just held the license bracket to the bumper cover with no backing plate on the inside of the bumper ??

Unless there was a plate integral to the cover (and I don't think there was), yes.
