Re: My first post as a new member of the NCRS

Welcome aboard Jake, hope to meet you in KC. I remember working with my dad on our family car when I was 7 or 8 years old, my first job was holding the light and asking questions. What a thrill it is to see young people getting involved in the Corvette hobby, any old car for that matter............."remember they trailer horses, not horsepower".

Hello Jacob, Welcome to the club! I remember seeing an extremely cool looking 67 convertible when I was your age. It certainly made an impression on me. I have a 12 year old son that loves these cars as much as me and is always by my side when I take them out. I think that it is so nice to see when a father and son can share a hobby. Hopefully we will meet at a show sometime soon!

Really nice to see the young ones becoming a part. My twins love to see the Corvettes come through but, so far, neither have commented about the size of the rivets in the upper ball joints or whether or not a wingnut is typical.

        Welcome aboard, Jacob!!

              Welcome Jake,

You've picked a great hobby to jump into. My first ride in a Corvette came at about the same age you are now. It was a 64 or 65 coupe that belonged to one of my Dad's work buddies. Pop's knew I was bitten early by the Corvette bug because I used to point them out on the streets when we went anywhere. He asked his friend to come over and give me a ride. We had a driveway that was about a quarter mile long so I got to ride in the Corvette all the way down to the road.

Needless to say, that ride hooked me good.

Glad to have you here, and hope to see you in KC.

              Tracy

HI JAKE Glad to joined NCRS & like old Corvettes. Like you I was born well after the classics of the 20" & 30's were built but I still love them. I joined the ACD club & joined the museum in Auburn In. I bought a 1936 Cord so you don't have to be the same age as the cars you like. Hope your generation will keep the love of old cars alive. We are counting on you.

JakeI think that's an AWESOME Birthday request you had. You will find that this is the best group of car "nuts" out there. Gosh, you will be a seasoned veteran by the time you get your driver's license....welcome aboard!!!! Also, and importantly, you are EXACTLY what we need in this organization - young members! We need more and more youth in there, and you are just what the doctor ordered....and we're also really close to having 60,000 members judging by your NCRS member number...That's great....ARA

Welcome aboard and Happy Birthday Jake! I too grew up in a car family. Started my first restoration when I was your age (32 Chev coupe) later sold it while in college for some muscle (69 Camaro). My room was plastered with Corvette posters and drawings in my school days. Took me a while but did finally buy my 66 convertible ten years ago. These are great people and a great club. I have visited with your Dad a time or two and hope to meet you soon! Talk your Dad into coming to the Heartland Chapter meet in Des Moines...I'm sure we can put you to work! I know in a few short years you will be driving one the Corvettes. Good luck...Tim

Jake, welcome to the Discussion Board and NCRS! I have met your dad a few times and I think even you once out in Hampton. I'll have my car at the Kansas City Nationals this year and if you sign up for it, you'll get a chance to judge it through the Founders Operations check.

                                I hope you like red.
