My first post as a new member of the NCRS

Hello,

I'm Jacob West and I am eleven years old. I told my dad back in December that I wanted my own NCRS membership for my eleventh birthday so here I am.

In 2013 I went with my dad (James West) on my first ever NCRS Road Tour and attended my first NCRS National Convention in Hampton, Virginia. While I was there I participated in the youth judging program, pinewood derby races, went to see the iron clad steam ship Monitor, and had a cool tour of the USS New York! I can't wait to go on the road tour again and attend the 2014 NCRS Convention in Kansas City, Kansas were my dad hopes to earn a Top Flight with his 1964 Corvette that he has owned since he was seventeen. My dad said that if he gets chosen to be a judge he will let me tag along if the team leader doesn't mind. My Grandpa, the late Gene West was an NCRS member since 1974 and my dad joined after he got out of college. My dad owns three Corvettes; a red 1964 convertible, a green 1965 coupe, and a 2008 Z06. I'm hoping that he will let me drive them when I turn sixteen just like my Grandpa let my dad drive his Corvettes when he was sixteen.

I talked with your grandpa on the phone and in person many times. He was a great guy, your Dad is a great guy, and it sounds like you are following in their footsteps. Welcome! You help lower the average age of NCRS members.

Thanks for all the responses to Jake's first post. He thinks it is cool to see all the replies. Although he doesn't own a Corvette yet we did build him a Soap Box Derby car together last winter that he races in the stock class and he's gotten a taste for the need for speed. I've also posted a few pictures that I took of Jake's first NCRS Road Tour and National Convention.

He is really fired up about going to KC this summer.

Hello Jake, I was about your age when I saw my first Corvette, (I grew up in a small town!) it was an early C-3, bright blue. Do you have a favorite year? I bet it's a 1973! They have a one year look, very easy to spot! Welcome to the hobby!

I'll bet Jacob loves the mid-years best, and the sharks after that. And I am guessing he has great teeth! Welcome Jake to the best car club for the best marque in the world.
If you have any questions about vettes that your dad can't answer, just ask right here anytime. There is 100s of years worth of corvette expertise on this forum.

Welcome JW, My wife Liz and I were on that Road Tour also, what a great time even with the heat. I observed as you guys went over my friends 63 for his Founders award, greaj job.
