    67 L71 Engine Pictures

Does anyone have any good pictures of a 67 L-71 engine. Does the alternator brace bolt on to the manifold or on to the head? I am trying to identify the various heater hose and vacuum fittings, throttle springs, wire retainers, etc. and some good pictures with the air cleaner removed would give me guidance. Thanks

Patrick, Then I'm pretty sure it mounts to the intake. There's a boss at the left front for it IIRC. I'm not in front of my '67 AIM but it should be in there. I'll see if I can find some non-PS L71 pics in my files.

Here's a photo of a non-P/S '67 L-71 - the alternator brace bolts to a boss on the front of the intake manifold.

Thanks for the picture. Does anyone know whether there are any washers on the exhaust manifold bolts and whether the throttle spring bracket is bare metal or painted?

The bolts which attach the alternator mounting bracket have lock washers. No other exhaust manifold bolts use any sort of washers.

                Patrick,
I believe the throttle spring bracket was attached when the engine was painted so it should at a minimum be partially covered with paint.

                  Patrick -

Typically, on engines with aluminum intakes, the spring bracket is zinc-plated; on engines with iron intakes, it's painted engine orange, as noted in the JG.
