Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil Shelf Life Question

I have a case of MOBIL1 Synthetic 15-50W that may be be between 5 and 10 years old - all in original sealed condition.
Can I use this oil?

I wouldn't use it in a street engine. 15W50 is too heavy.

I don't know about the age though.

If you have any doubts, and want to sell it cheap, I'd be interested. (I use it in my early hemi powered dirt car that has 14 quarts capactiy). On the other hand, if it's still sealed in the original containers, I wouldn't worry about it. However, I am not a petroleum chemist.

Most oil manufacturers, including ExxonMobil, recommend a 5 year shelf life for unopened synthetics. But that is a bit like the "use by" date on food. Way conservative to protect the manufacturers.
