1965 Bottom Seat Frame Spring Source

I need to replace one of not all of the perimeter seat frame springs on the bottom frame on my '65. I've looked in the LIC, CC, and Paragon on-line catalogs and don't see them listed. Anyone have a source for these OR can I possibly buy them from a Westlake Ace Hardware store? See attached picture for the spring I'm referring to.

    Thanks,

James, Al Knoch has them. He gave me a handful at Carlisle a few years back. Just cut them in half and use. I just did my 63 seats and they worked perfectly

Local upholstery shops will have them, as they were used for decades on many different cars.

        Harry and Pat,

Thanks for the info. I have new seat covers and install kit coming from AK so I hope these springs are included in the kit.

        Thanks again,

        James West

I wouldn't bet on it. The install kit has the hog rings and similar, but not these.
You'll need to find a local upholstery place, preferably automotive, and buy some.

I agree with Patrick, none came in my kit. Did you also get the clip installation tool? The clips I received for my 63 seats were less than 2 inches long. I started to tear up the foam and I straightened a few installing the bottoms.

After two hours I gave up and used 14" black electrical ties. AT that point it was 15 minutes a seat bottom. If they had electrical ties in the 60's those clips would have never been used.

They also make metal ties. We use them for installing metal tags on electrical cables. If using those you would not have to worry about them getting old and brittle and breaking.

I called AK on Tuesday and they do have the springs. I ordered eight of them. Thanks to everyone who responded.
