What is the correct position of the alternator, power steering pump and AC belt GM markings. Are they to be read from the front of the car or are they to be facing or to be read from the windshield side?

Re: Belt Markings Direction
Interesting question. No matter how many of these nice low-mileage 78s I look at, someone will ask a question that I really did not attend to while studying them. Photographs always capture the detail for later study. I have photos of two different low-mileage Pace Cars and the belts are read from the front of the car.
I also think its important to note that belts were installed at the assembly plant vs engine assembly plant. The buildsheet would call out the broadcast codes for the power team configuration and put on during chassis buildup and before marriage to the body. Now, were they all installed facing the front of the vehicle. I wouldn't say for sure and not aware of any document that directs belts to be installed facing the front of the engine. My view is based on what I have seen on low-mileage 78s. Hope this helps
