    C2 hood fit

Having some problems with the fit of the hood on a 67. The gaps are OK except on the drivers side rear where the hood is too close to the metal grill. The rear edge of the grill on the right side fits tight against the fiberglass behind it. This is not the case on the left side. The center of the grill touches the fiberglass, but the ends do not. In other words the curve of the grill is a little sharper that the curve of the fiberglass behind it. If this fit like the other side the gap would be OK. The obvious is to modify the fiberglass to fit the grill. This looks to be difficult. Would someone look at their car to see if this problem is unique to mine? The surround was replaced years ago with a GM part. Thank you, Randy

The screws can be loosened on the grille and moved (massaged) marginally. Not sure if will get you the clearance you need but worth a try.

Randy try to elongate the holes were the j-clips sit there maybe a tiny bit extra there. Good luck.

I just got done with my 67's hood gaps and fit where a 1970's body shop put on a GM nose upper section and one fenderwell , they had it so screwed up
I'd suggest that before you grind anything, pull the grills and measure from the rear of the grill opening to the front edge of the hood opening (to the rear of the headlight bucket openings). Mine was off more than 1/4 in.

Here are couple of photos of my 67. Fberglass and grille are original (obviously new paint) configuration. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. The problem is that there is a gap between the grill and the fiberglass behind it because it they touch each other in the center but not the ends. Thank you, Randy

You might want to try a different grille before you start grinding. Maybe there is someone close by that will borrow you a grille, or at least make a pattern for comparison.

Randy, another thought; Place the right side grille upside down over the left side grille to see if they are "mirror images". That will tell you the grille is ok...

Both of my 67 have 1/8 gap all the way around including towards the hood. I agree I would check the grill.
