    67 Turn Signal switch

    Hey Guys,
My brake lights stopped working and I think I tracked the problem down to my turnsignalswitch. Can anyone recommend a place to buy an original, NOS or an excellent reproduction and one that will pass judging? I've read and heard that most of the repros are not very good. And by the way, is that a easy switch to replace? Thanks

The most involved part is removal of the steering column so you gain access to removal and replace of the harness that is part of the switch assembly. Obtaining a new switch assembly has been a bit of an issue as of late because many Corvette parts jobbers seem to be out of stock on this switch. I obtained one at the NCRS swap meet in Florida. This part is used in '67 and '68 model years.

Thanks. Do telescopic steering wheels with manual trans use the same part as standard steering wheels?

Yep. I thought the same thing. Does anyone know if the switches from Lectric Limited are any good?

Maybe I should describe the problem first to add some color to the situation:
Turn signal in neutral position.....no brake lights.
Turn signal switch in left or right position and flashing...brake lights work most of the time? I said most of the time. A few times I had to switch back and forth between L/R to get brake lights to work. Your thoughts?

I had the same exact issue on my 67. The brake lights would not work until I would wiggle the turn signal handle. What I did was just cleaned the contacts in the switch with some Emory cloth. They were corroded and not making good contact in the middle (neutral) position.

I totally agree. I thought that, too, but the seller describes it as "new". So, I attributed it to a bad picture. If I were going to actually buy it, I would request better pictures AND CONFIRMATION that the part is NEW.

Anyway, here's another but it's not clear to me that it's actually a GM piece. It looks better, though.

                        Joe,

At the bottom of that auction the seller states: "This action is for ONE (1) New Reproduction not NOS GM Turn Signal Switch".

OK, I thought it was probably a reproduction but I didn't read the complete description. However, a lot of sellers get pretty "loose" when they give the original GM part number in the description for an item that's actually a reproduction. They should say "REPLACES" before the part number.

Yup, classic case of directional switch problem. Here's a basic hen-scratch of a C1 setup I put together a while ago, but principle is the same. Power to the stop lights goes through the dir switch.

I'd try to clean the contacts too, as that's likely the problem.....if you can get in there to clean them without damaging the mechanism. I've done it on the C1 switches but never had the pleasure of getting into a C2 switch.

I tried to order one from Paragon last week, they've been on back order since August of 2012......
