Hi,

I am installing NOS upper ball joints on my '63 convt. The NOS units are still in original boxes and have a natural finish.

My question is whether the upper (and lower) ball joints should be painted black? If so, is the zerk fitting also painted (I wouldn't think so)?

Seems I recall reading somewhere that the upper and lower A-Arms were completely assembled and painted as a unit.

The ball joints were installed to the a-arms at St. Louis. They were completely natural finish, just as you have found them in the box.

However, for a 1963 they could have been subsequently painted, in whole or part, during the chassis black-out operation.
