    67 L36 Vacuum Control Canister

Will the Vacuum control canister with the below part number work for my car? This part number is the only one local. I can order a "B26" or "B20" stamped part but want to get this fixed sooner than later.

    Part Number: DV1465
    Alternate Part Number: VC-199X
    Application:
    Without special high performance

    Thanks,

    Lawrence

What brand name are those part numbers, and what brands are available to you? The only p/n I know off the top of my head for a B20 or B26 is NAPA VC1765.

Those are AutoZone part numbers. I can get the Napa parts. Just will take awhile.

What Donald listed are brand part numbers. I don't know what brand Autozone or various other FLAPS carry.

Regardless of the brand/part number (assuming a "name brand"), the VAC was manufactured by Standard Motor Products, and the correct ID number stamped on the mounting bracket for your application (assuming it's a manual trans) is B20 or B26.

You and your local most convenient FLAPS can access an online cross reference that should cross the NAPA/Echlin VC1765 to whatever brand names they carry.

The original vacuum control for your application was GM #1115360. This is long-since GM discontinued. The current equivalent are any of the following, all of which should be stamped "B10":

            Delco------------------------D1383X

I believe that a vacuum control stamped B20 or B26 will also work as others have mentioned. However, it is not equivalent to the original vacuum control.

I don't think the B10 is available anymore in any brand. The B10 is supposed to be 12* @ 12", which matches the OE ...360 specs. The B20/B26 is 16* @ 12".

                Guys,

The Vacuum canister that I picked up today was stamped "B1". Would this be the "B10" perhaps?

I doubt it. There also exists a "B1" vacuum control. It's equivalent to the old GM #1116212. It produces 16 crankshaft degrees advance @ 16-18". The current GM part number is 19138050 and Delco #214-1066. NAPA/Echin # VC-680.

Darn it. So I best order the "B26" from Napa.

Yes, I think so, too. The GM #19138049, aka Delco D1383X, was definitely stamped "B10" and is definitely discontinued.

As far as other brand part numbers go, I'm not sure anymore. The other brand part numbers I have are Standard Motor Products VC-24A and NAPA/Echlin VC-1765SB. However, both of those are stamped "B1" and that control is WAY DIFFERENT in specs from the specs of the old 1115360.

Lawence, I would return the B1. It has a heavy duty spring in it. You don't want that one. John

                            Lawrence,

What kind of vacuum does the engine make with the timing set at approx20* at idle? Being that you are not using the original vacuum control get one that's matched close the the engine vacuum. If for example the engine makes 16+" vacuum try the B22 control, as it's pulled full at 15" vacuum.

                              Tim,

The engine is making 16" at idle. I have not checked the timing as of yet. Will the B26 work at this level?
