Re: Bill Talbert 1957 Corvette Drag CorvetteVanishing Breed at Edgewater where is he
Bill, I think I have some info for you - my friend said he remembered the '57 in the late '60s or early '70s at Raven Rock Drag Strip at Portsmouth Oh. He said the car was blue at that time not red and ran D Gas. It belonged to a Brown County Deputy Sheriff named Roger Ness who lived in Georgetown, Oh. I checked the phone book and there's no current listing for him.
Another friend, who ran an Anglia Gasser in the mid '70's, remembered the car from the picture but couldn't recall the owner's name.
I'll check with some people I know from Georgetown tomorrow and see if Roger is still around.

You might want to check the NHRA rule book. I see that the '57 does not have a roll bar. My friend Bill Clupper was drag racing back in those days and he thinks that roll bar were mandated in the late 1960's. Just a thought.

Hi Scott, I'm sure your friend is correct about the roll bar. I'm pretty sure at that time (1976) Edgewater was NHRA sanctioned but I'm not sure about Raven Rock or Kil Kare - maybe AHRA or IHRA with different rules? Bill's pictures are from Edgewater so I can't explain the absence of a roll bar. I hope to gather more information for him in the next few days. Thanks, Phil- Top
