    oil pan pictures needed please

Thinking about taking my 1958 283 oil pan in to a local body shop to have these dents removed.
Can someone please post a few close up pictures (profile pictures and top views) for reference.

    Thanks a million.

Here are some photos I took when I restored a oil pan for my 1960 Corvette, I assume that they are the same as 1958. However, I have a D marked oil pan plug, which I do not know if it is correct. Judging manual mentions an A in a circle like the one you have, which is correct.

        Kevin:

The pan in your pictures is the correct pan for a 1958 Corvette. The same pan was used for all engines in 1958.

The pictures posted by Ruedi are those of an over the counter replacement. Those pans were not used in production.

By the way, two pan configurations were used in 1960-1962. The hyraulic lifter engines used the pan like yours. The solid lifter motors used what is commonly referred to as the "trap door pan"

If you still need some photo's, email me at edlepelis@verizon.net and I will send them.

Thank you for the clarification, I bought this oil pan from a Corvette guy in the United States and was assured it were factory correct...
Should have done more research, it seems.

Thanks a lot for the photos. I ended up tackling the oil pan myself. didn't turn out too bad not perfect but I think its should do.

                  Ruedi,

The D plug is a later 3/4 inch plug and wasn't used on C1s. The A headmark is 7/8 inch and is correct. Several other headmarks have been noted, including AP, L, TR, etc. The same plugs were also used for the differential drain plug.

The pictured pan is correct for a 270hp and 315hp 1961.
