    68/69 front bumper restoration

I have a 68/69 front bumper that needs a nut in the center bracket... Here's a photo of the remaining nut... I'd like to source another. Is this a captive nut, or what exactly?

    Roger------

Usually, this sort of nut is referred to as a "weld nut". This is simply a square nut that has been welded to the bumper as a PRODUCTION (and SERVICE) convenience. This particular style nut is called a round top square nut I don't know of any source for a nut of this exact configuration. A somewhat similar round top square nut, though, might be available from McMaster-Carr

Thank you Joe, it looked a little odd, but I found a square round top at Ace hardware that is close to it

Roger. The guys that re-chrome bumpers generally have new nuts to re-weld back into place, If you ask he may have a old weld nut. other wise there replacements are not that far off as the originals. and can you really even see these nut once the bumper is mounted.

Edward, that's a good idea, never thought to ask at the chrome shop
