I was wondering if there is a dimension(writen or commonly accepted) that the tail pipes are supposed to stick out past the bezel? I can't find anything in the Judging Guide and only a clearance dimension in the assembly maual.

Re: 69 Exhaust Tips
Greg my 68's original chrome exhaust tips extended from the bezel as installed at the factory. If I told you how many inches it would be a guess. When I replaced the mufflers and installed new tips I installed the tips about the same distance beyond the top edge of the bezel. I could measure mine but do not know if they are 100 correct. Do not know if the tips are measured during NCRS judging.
I not at work now and measured the drivers side chrome exhaust tip at the top from the bezel straight back and have about 3 1/2 inches. Garage door is down and the 68 is to close to the garage door to get the passenger side measured.Last edited by Jim T.; January 30, 2014, 06:53 PM.- Top

Re: 69 Exhaust Tips
Although it pertains to the newer cars I "assume" the answer I got at BG a few years ago applies: Something like "We just align them and bolt the unit in place. If it looks good it passes." Since there is not a lot of adjustment I was told they rely heavily on Engineering and Manufacturing to get it right.Steve

Re: 69 Exhaust Tips
I don't have my '69 AIM with me here on vacation, but I think that measurement is addressed in the front of the AIM under Dimensions(?). I think is shows as a number of inches from the top of the exhaust tip to the edge of the bumper, or something like that....lol. Good luck.- Top
