I found a nice set of original sun visors for my 1962 but I can't get them set up with a tight fit. They drop down. Does anyone have a nice trick to shim them? Thanks.

Re: 1962 sun visor mounting
I haven't had mine off in awhile, but I think you can pull the bracket out of the end and just pinch the material a little. I would wrap a rag around it and lightly squeeze with a pair of regular pliers. Then push the bracket back in. Maybe try to do it with the bracket in first. Also tighten the tiny screws a little. Others may chime in.- Top

Re: 1962 sun visor mounting
John, I would be afraid to do much squeezing, even with a rag as it is so old and brittle it would probably crack. Mine actually got worse when I replaced the hardware but it was a problem with the originals. I have the nuts as tight as they will go but I think there is collars on the bushing that bottom against each other so it will only go so tight. Possible the bushing could be ground off but I really have not worked on it. I was hoping to get other peoples cure to save me some work (lazy). Thanks for the reply. Don H.- Top

Re: 1962 sun visor mounting
Bill, what I did on my 63 is to remove the special fasteners and install a very small flat washer between them, this will let you tighten the fastener some. the shoulder on the fastener will only let you tighten until the threads have ended, Put the flat washer on the top side of the visor so out of sight, If you take the fastener to the hardware store you can match the correct diameter.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
